11 - 4 = 7.

So that's 7 months since I last touched this.

Almost half a year.

Hmm...

I'm not really one to kiss and tell. I'm just going to say today is fucking great. :-D Everything is going right for once. And not just sort of right, excessively, unbelievable estatically right.

Everything except that i'm 15,575 kilometers away from where I want to be.

But that will be remedied soon... and I'm looking forward to it!

Where the past rocks up.

mood: wtf?
I was talking with [info]thisismykitty when she mentioned encyclopedia dramatica, and picked the furries article as an example of it's... "quality" articles.

So being half asleep, like usual, i'm just scanning down the page and get to whole lot of photos, examples of furries- at the bottom.

And then suddenly it hits me. There's a photo there. The person in it... i know her. The photo of this catgirl- i took it three years ago. This photo of this girl photoshopped to be a furry. I did that!

Naturally, the only words that came to mind where "How and What the fuck?"

It's funny where you'll find things popping up...

I forgot the password to my mac.

I'm going at one thought a minute right now, so... uh... mhm...

[info]thisismykitty was having some problem with her Macbook, where she never actually had the password to the machine (No, she didn't steal it! I don't think she did...). If the machine is set to autologin (and presumably, in her case, it is, since she's on live journal all the time :-P) then this is mostly a minor nusance.

Neither the less, it's an unnecessary nusance. So here, for the benefit of everyone is a quick one two three four five six (seven eight, and so on) guide to fixing it.

Note before attempting, that these instructions are for Mac OS X 10.4 and above. If you have an earlier version, post a comment. That and while nothing should go wrong, I take no responsibility for anything that does.

  1. You need to know what your short username is, before attempting any of this. You can find it out by going to the Terminal program (you can find it in Applications/Utilities) and typing "echo $USER" or by going to your System Preferences, then Accounts.

  2. Now, turn off your machine. hehe.

  3. Turn your machine back on, while holding the Apple and S keys. Keep holding them.

  4. This will take you to what some would describe as a DOS prompt. Don't be scared. Just enter the following line, replacing shortname with your own.
fsck -y; mount -uw /; sh /etc/rc/; passwd shortname; reboot

It'll ask you to enter a new password, and then restart.
  5. Vola.

While that's the sweet short version of it, I suppose some people might be more interested in what's happening. If badgered, i'll go into more detail.

Anyway, I hope that was useful for someone. I'm going to go and forage for food now.

The Tuesday Errand Run

mood: good
music: Minerva - Deftones
I'm sitting there wasting away my life on Live Journal (aren't we all?) when I notice the clock says that it's 6 am. This means that there is no point in me going to sleep, to wake up 10 minutes later. Instead, I grab two bread rolls, and drink a strong unsweetened coffee. Move the car out, and wait for my mum to get ready for work.

Today, I have an errand run.

Let's Roll... )

I had a strange day today. Plenty of action, excitement and romance! Everything a good story needs.

Bbbuuut, I'm tired at the moment. So check back a few hours later, and this will replaced with something more... story like.

Stay tuned!

Watching myself float away...
03:30am 03/04/2007

mood: nostalgic
music: Theme from Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind
I found that Live Journal has a great web gallery facility, which I intend to make the best of.

The start of this was uploading some of my photography stuff- some of which i'm proud of, and some of which just makes me... happy.

And then I found some stuff related to my studio arts subject. And I'm reminded of the day I took this.

I was having a really shitty day. And was starting to get depressedsad, so in order to combat that I generally try to keep myself occupied, keep on my feet so to speak. And I came with this idea.
I wanted to make a paper boat, release it at the beach and then snap photos of it drifting away (I had the caption "I'm watching myself float away... again" in my mind). So, the first part was to make a paper boat... and I had no idea how to do that. A computer, and 5 minutes later- and i had instructions. So I made my little boat, and then set off on my trip to the beach (a 10 minute walk from the TAFE/Institute.). I get to the enclosure at the beach, and look at the ladder into the water. I decide that I do not want to lose my Digital SLR, my phone or the contents of my bag. So I drop all of these items, and carefully walk down the ladder, nearly slipping into the water twice as I managed to lower the boat into the water. And then I relise something is not right. The boat isn't just floating... it's floating away and fast! So I quickly run up the ladder, grab my camera, and start snapping away, as the boat floated off into the bay.

And I had intentions of fishing it out of the water.

Made for quite an interesting day. :-)

So you're sitting there, completing some last minute assignment, or fighting boredom, insomnia, or many of the other ills that keep us up at night.

And you're hungry. Too lazy to walk to the nearest kebab van, or drive to a 24 hour maccas, you start to forage through your fridge- but for what?

Look no further than the wonderful tasty tuna melt square!

Easy to prepare, somewhat healthy, and comes in bite size servings!

Let's start cooking... )

Switchbox : That stupid stupid game

music: Be Quiet and Drive Far Away - Deftones
I made this flash game sometime last year. It has the eye candy, but the fact that it's probably not possible to complete- annoys me.

But that doesn't stop anyone from playing it? And damn, it provides a pretty good illusion of being winnable for a couple of minutes.

Play! )

Fun with Batteries!

mood: content
music: Velouria - The Pixies

This is copied from something I did a while ago on a personal webpage and myspace.

One time I saw a man in a business suit, riding a bike... Only in Melbourne.

Anyway, you're probably reading this because you're bored. And I've got just the solution for you!

Fun with Batteries!

That's right! You can have fun with batteries! You can make many toys and games using batteries. Remember girls and boys, you want cheap double A batteries. Those little Asian variety stores selling questionable low quality wares is a great place to find these. Alternatively, just steal the batteries out of TV remotes. Your mother/father/brother/sister/pet shouldn't care too much

Continue with the horror... )

music: 7 Years - Superheist
This, arguably is a blog. Stuff goes on it. While the writer of such a blog would hope that it would be worth reading- generally it's not.

Atleast if it's something about how exhausted I am- seriously? booooring.

So in an attempt to avoid wasting my own time, and yours, I intend to put "redeeming" content on this "blog."
